Adult Groups FAQs

The questions we’re most often asked when planning adult group visits.

Where are you based?

We’re based in Grantown-on-Spey, around 15 minutes from Aviemore, right on the doorstep of the Cairngorms National Park.

How long should we allow for a visit?

Most adult groups visit for a half day or full day. One activity usually lasts a couple of hours, while two activities create a well-paced, varied day. We’ll recommend timings based on your group size, travel plans and chosen activities.

Will we need to drive between activities?

Sometimes, yes. Some activity combinations involve a short drive between locations. We’ll confirm travel requirements and timings when we build your programme so the day runs smoothly.

Do we all need to be super fit?

Not at all. We work with a wide range of abilities and fitness levels and will recommend activities that suit your group — whether you want something relaxed and social or more physically demanding.

What if some people don’t want water activities?

That’s absolutely fine. We can suggest land-based alternatives or build a package that keeps everyone involved. If you’re considering canoeing or gorge walking, just let us know your group’s water confidence.

Can people attend without taking part in activities?

Yes. Some guests are happy to spectate or opt out. There are great riverside walks along the River Spey, making it easy for non-participants to enjoy the surroundings while the rest of the group takes part.

Can we get food during our visit?

Yes. Our Clubhouse Café is available during your visit, and we also offer pre-ordered food options for group bookings. This helps keep your day running smoothly — just let us know what you’d like when booking.

Is there a bar on site?

Yes. After your activities, you’re welcome to relax in our fully licensed Clubhouse, making it a great place to regroup, celebrate and wind down together.

Can you help with accommodation?

Yes. You can stay on site in our Bunkhouse, or if you’re looking for other accommodation nearby, we’re happy to point you in the right direction on request.

What should we wear and bring?

Dress for the outdoors with layers, waterproofs and sturdy footwear. For water-based activities we’ll send a full kit list in advance. All specialist safety equipment is provided by us.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We run in most weather conditions and adapt sessions to keep things safe and enjoyable. If conditions make an activity unsafe, we’ll discuss alternative options or next steps with you.

How do bookings, deposits and final numbers work?

Bookings are secured with a deposit based on your best estimate of numbers. Final numbers are confirmed closer to your visit, helping keep things flexible while ensuring smooth planning.

"Best way to step out of your comfort zone"

We were a group of 6, middle-aged, all varying degrees of fitness. Slightly apprehensive and nervous at first, the guides (Anna and Jan) soon put us at ease and made it fun, even when it got cold. Appreciate the humour and the help and encouragement along the way as needed. Do not hesitate to book this tour, it is awesome! Anyone can participate, of all ages.

"Gorge walking experience, fantastic!"

The guides made the day for us. Big thumbs up! There were 6 of us between the ages of 37 and 50 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience. It was exhilarating and one of the top 10 highlights of my life.

"Wonderful experience"

We had a 4-day canoe trip down the Spey for a friend's 60th, couldn't fault in any way. Our guide Dan was patient, friendly and safety conscious for our group of varying experiences, including complete novices. Brilliant experience, wonderful countryside, plenty of wildlife, well organised and good food. I think we all felt we had overcome a few challenges, become more competent and above all had a great time. Thanks to Keith, Dan and the team.
